Case 1 The geological team explores the deep valleys and uses a portable instrument called a buoyancy scale to accurately measure the ore density. Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a buoyancy weigher, which is a sealed hollow cylinder in the middle, a small basket hung on the lower end of the cylinder, a vertical rod engraved with a marking line on the upper end of the cylinder, and a small disk at the top of the rod. Because the cylinder is hollow, the small baskets below are heavy, so the buoyancy scales can stay upright and float in water.
