教育部于2007年7月颁发了《大学英语课程教学要求》,该《课程要求》逐步成为了高等学校组织非英语专业本科生英语教学的主要依据,各院校大学英语课程教学的改革也进入了新的阶段。《课程要求》促使大学英语教学在教学思想、教学模式和评价体系三个方面进行调整和改革,同时也要求大学英语教师在新的教学模式中转换角色,即由传统教学中知识的灌输者转变成为英语教学活动的组织者、知识的传授者、学生学习的指导者、教学改革的研究者。本文试图从大学英语教师角色的含义及其角色转变的理论基础的角度来分析大学英语教师角色转变的必然性和方向。
