在当前历史条件下,如何办好图书馆是致力于创建“211工程”的医科高校面临的重要课题.笔者认为,办好医学图书馆有许多事情要做,作为一名读者使我感受最深的有以下四点:一、图书馆是影响高校发展三个关键因素之一.图书馆在高校中究竟占有什么位置,怎样来评估其重要性是现时社会中没有得到很好解决的问题.每当人们提到决定高校发展的主要因素时,首先想到的是学科及重要实验室建设和人才,这当然是对的.但人类伴着迅速发展的科学技术进入21世纪时,图书情报信息的传递发生了革命性的变化,社会进入信息时代.“信息高速公路”已不是未来而是现实.其主要特征就是计算机化.可以认为,没有现代化的图书馆就难有现代的医学教育、科学研究和医疗工作.所以图书馆在高校中的地位明显突出.医科高校工作有三个中心;教学,科研和医疗.从发展的前景看也有三个关键,即学科及重要实验室建设,人才和以图书馆为核心的现代文献信息中心的建立.笔者以为,提高认以,特别是提高领导者对图书馆重要性的认识是当前
