本文根据紧凑型玉米具有假熟性的特点，简述了紧凑型与平展型玉米的最佳收获适期。试验证明，掖单１２、掖单１３和掖单２０等品种，其适宜的收获时间，为果穗白皮后的７～９天为其最佳适期。此时收获，公顷产量最高，试验表明，一般比对照增产１０．５８％～１３．２７％。若在果穗白皮时收获，则往往会导致玉米减产，减产率为９．７５％～１３．６４％。而平展型玉米，如沈单７号、鲁玉６号和丹玉１３等品种，其适宜的收获时间为完熟期。
