我国基础教育的对象有一半是女儿童。女童受教育问题如得不到解决,普及义务教育的任务则难以先成.提高全民族思想道德和文化科学素质的目标以及从政治、经济、文化上提高妇女社会地位的目标也就难以实现。显然女儿童的教育问题值得高度重视。我国党和政府对男女儿童的教育一贯是同等的。有些地方政府为了解决女童入学问题,采取了许多具体措施、做了大量工作。我们看到,建国三十多年来,我国女童教育取得了很大成就。但是,据了解,当前我国广大农村中女童的初等教育普及率仍普遍低于男童。全国有273万儿童未入学,其中女童225万,占82%以上。在300万流生中,女童的流失率占70—
Half of our counterparts in basic education are girls and children. If the problem of girl’s education is not solved and the task of popularizing compulsory education is difficult to get ahead, the goal of raising the ideological, ethical and scientific quality of the entire nation and the goal of political, economic and cultural advancement of women’s social status will be elusive. Obviously, the education of girls and children deserves high priority. The education of boys and girls in our party and government has always been the same. Some local governments have taken many concrete measures and done a great deal of work in order to solve the girl’s enrollment problem. We have seen that in the thirty years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, great achievements have been made in the education of girl children in our country. However, it is understood that the prevalence of primary education of girls in the vast majority of rural areas in our country is still generally lower than that of boys. There are 2.73 million children out of school nationwide, including 2.25 million girls, accounting for more than 82%. Among the three million abortions, girls lost 70-
