十一月三日上午,宁波大学举行《国外大学图书馆概况介绍》学术报告会,报告会由美国纽约市市立大学董鼎山教授主讲。董教授四十年代中叶毕业于上海圣约翰大学,他当过记者,曾任美国三家杂志编辑,荣获过新闻与美国文学硕士学位,哥伦比亚大学图书馆科学理科硕士,现任纽约市大学教授,已出版专著4本:《天下真小》、《书、人、事》、《西边叶拾》、《西窗拾叶》。董教授学识渊博,才华横溢,知名度高。这次回国专程到宁波大学,讲授“美国文学、美国社会文化概况、英语写作、英语翻译、美国文学以及美国几所大学图书馆概况。在报告中他具体介绍了美国几所大学图书馆藏书、管理工作。在报告中他强调了大学图书馆工作中的重要性以及工作人员的高度责任心。他说:“大学图书馆是研究性图书馆,在国外,它同公共图书馆一样被十分重视。”他还说:“大学图书馆员不仅要熟悉自己的业
On the morning of November 3, Ningbo University held an academic report entitled “Overview of Foreign University Libraries”. The lecture was delivered by Professor Dong Dingshan, City University of New York, USA. Professor Dong graduated from St. John’s University in Shanghai in the mid-1940. He was a journalist. He was a former editor of three U.S. magazines and received a master’s degree in Journalism and American Literature. He has a master’s degree in science from the Columbia University Library and is currently a professor at the University of New York City. He has published Monograph 4: “The world is really small,” “Book, People, Things,” “Western Ye Shi”, “Xishi window pick leaves.” Professor Dong is knowledgeable, talented and well-known. The return trip to Ningbo University made a special trip to Ningbo University, teaching “American Literature, American Social and Cultural Overview, English Writing, English Translation, American Literature and the United States several university library profiles .In the report he specifically introduced the United States several university library collections, Management work.In his report, he emphasized the importance of university library work and the high sense of responsibility of the staff.He said: ”The university library is a research library, and abroad, it is as important as the public library .
