Hydrogen peroxide is a highly toxic metabolite of tissues, and catalase is an important enzyme in hydrogen peroxide metabolism. The intrauterine copper catalase has been reported to activate endomembrane catalase in rats, and the authors studied the effect of IUD on the rate of hydrogen peroxide production in the endometrium.
