[Purpose / Significance] With the rise of social media and electronic publishing platforms, the use of journals’ attention on Twitter to evaluate journals can complement the traditional journal evaluation methods and find the correlation between the index and traditional indicators. In the end, it will build a reasonable evaluation index of social network influence of periodicals. [Method / Process] According to the Social Sciences Edition of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the top 30 journals in the field of international library and information science are selected as top international journals in this field. In order to study the relationship between altmetrics index and the traditional citation-based evaluation index, Spearman’s non-parametric correlation analysis was used to compare the Twitter reference frequency of the journal with eight traditional indicators (total quotient, impact factor, five-year impact factor, Year index, number of papers, citation half-life, eigenfactors and essay impact scores). [Results / Conclusions] The statistical results show that JASIST, College & Research Libraries, and Scientometrics are the most watched journals in this field on Twitter. The frequency of periodicals Twitter mentioning only has a moderately significant correlation with periodicals’ characteristic factors, and there is a weak correlation with other indicators. It is noteworthy that, compared to other journals, journals that have an official account on Twitter are obviously getting more attention.
