This article discusses the under-construction 250m Darinair dam on the Kruger River in northeastern Turkey. Construction of the arch dam foundation excavation was completed in 2005, the dam concrete has started pouring, dam concrete is expected to be completed in 2010. Upon completion, the concrete aggregate of the dam is 3.3 million m3, which will be the tallest arch dam in Turkey and one of the tallest arch dams in the world. This paper discusses the seismic design of dams in detail. The peak acceleration of a seismic safety assessment of 10,000 years is 0.35 g. Under the action of the earthquake, cracks will occur in the upper part of the dam along the horizontal construction joints, and the grouted transverse joints with keyways will also be opened. As a result, concrete blocks formed at the top of the dam due to cracking may displace towards the reservoir. In this paper, the maximum displacements and rotational displacements of the concrete dam may be studied.
