当今的少年儿童是祖国的未来和希望,2000年之后,他们将成为我国发展科技事业赶超世界先进国家水平的中坚力量,肩负着为实现中华民族宏伟大业的历史重任,因此,铸造千万万跨世纪的英才,是我们刻不容缓的职责。从现在起,就要努力培养他们爱祖国、爱人民、爱科学、爱劳动的思想品德;就要不断教育他们树立远大理想、勤奋学习、善于思索、勇于创造和无私奉献的精神。为此,根据少年儿童好奇心强、想象力丰富和活泼好动的特点,并吸取历届各种全国性比赛的经验,认为举办科幻创作大赛是全面开发少年儿童智力的好形式,可为他们提供充分发挥想象力,展开理想的翅膀,用科幻故事、绘画及手工制品,把自己心中的美好未来世界描绘出来。进而激发他们刻苦学习,不断进取。勇于为实现自己理想而艰苦奋斗的精神。
