在八大公山原始次生林设置的标准地内,深度0~45cm土层每克干土中同一类群的微生物(除硝化细菌外)数量变动范围不大.其中好气性细菌在1.70×106~7.1×106个之间,真菌在1.3×106~9.6×106个之间,固氮菌在1.5×105~2.1×105个之间,厌气性细菌在5.5×104~6.5×105个之间,放线菌在6.7×103~9.3×104个之间.由于土温常年偏低(8月份平均气温最高也只有22.8℃)以及土壤水分系数较大(平均在40%左右),导致土壤中微生物的数量较少,1克干土中的微生物总数量只有1.7×107个.同样,空气中和水中的微生物也非常少,日平均每立方米空气中所含真菌仅为253个,好气性细菌为104个,放线菌仅13个,空气异常清洁;平均每毫升水中,好气性细菌只有40个,真菌只有3个,放线菌仅1.5个.
