Objective To study the effect of P21(WAF1/CIP1) and cyclin D1 and their relationship in colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of P21 and cyclin D1 was studied in 40 colorectal carcinoma and 10 normal tissues using S P immunohistochemical technique.Results Decreased expression of P12 and overexpression of cyclin D1 were revealed in colorectal carcinoma.Decreased expression of P21 was related to lymph node metastasis.No correlation was found between cyclin D1 and clinicopathological parameters.Conclusion Decreased expression of P21 and overexpression of cyclin D1 may be involved in colorectal tumorigenesis,and were associated with poor prognosis.No correlation was found between P21 and cyclin D1 in colorectal carcinoma.
