三种类繁多的著作的问世,是1978—1992年间义和团运动史研究取得长足进展的首要标志。在众多著作中,廖一中等著《义和团运动史》、李文海等编著《义和团运动史事要录》、陈振江、程(肃欠)编著《义和团文献辑注与研究》和路遥主编《义和拳运动起源探索》,具有一定的代表性。廖著和李著属于通史性质著作。在1977年以前,我国只出版过一部13万字的义和团运动通史。廖著和李著不仅篇幅较大,分别为37.4万字和36.2万字,而且内容充实,反映了80年代我国在义和团运动通史方面的研究水平。廖著采用章节体,全书共分13章,主要论述了从1898年赵三多在冠县高举“扶清灭洋”旗帜起义到1902年景廷宾领导的“扫清灭洋”起义失败的历史进程。李著采取编年体,以时为经,以事为纬,按照历史顺序,将义和团运动期间各
