1979年,商务印书馆为适应祖国的“四化”需要,普及外国历史知识,恢复出版《外国历史小丛书》.这套小丛书在“文化大革命”前,由著名历史学家吴晗主编,1965年前共出版了五十九种,得到了各方面的好评.恢复出版工作以后,于去年11月重新成立了以史学界老前辈陈翰笙为主任委员,张芝联为副主任委员的编辑审查委员会,商务印书馆外国历史小丛书编辑室拟订了三年、十年选题计划.
