In the reliable and smooth operation of power system,power quality matters a lot along with quantity.Different procedures and methodologies have been adopted nationally and internationally to improve the power quality and to continue the proper operation of power system.Harmonics is a primitive issue in power quality and it needs special consideration.Most of the time,it creates annoying scenario which causes malfunctioning of some sensitive electrical equipment in power system.The mentioned issue is very problematic for proper working of relays,circuit breakers and transformers etc.It causes rise in temperature,insulation weakening,increase in loss and ultimately decay in overall life time of a transformer.An analysis of harmonics in distribution transformer based on Wavelet Transformation,is presented in this thesis.Wavelet based analysis gives the idea about different frequency components and its effect on voltage profile of transformer.Various techniques are there to analyze the effect of harmonics like Fourier Transform and Short Time Fourier Transform but they have certain limitations compared to Wavelet Transform.This research is based on the real time data of three phase distribution transformer operating under some non-linear load and its analysis which is gives the information about the increase in power loss of transformer and reduction in its operational life.
