Haloperidol (Hal) belongs to the butyrophenone group of drugs and is widely used in the treatment of schizophrenia, mania and similar psychotic states.Analytical methods for Hal include GC-MS, HPLC, LC-MS, CE, MEKC and 19F NMR.However, there is no published method for analyzing Hal in biofluids. Therefore, by improving upon our previous methods, this study was designed to achieve determination of Hal.Compared with the previous report, the combination of CE with ECL showed several advantages: easy to operate, high selectivity to the specific analyte, fast analysis speed, low reagent consumption, etc.In this work, it was found that the weak electrochemiluminescence (ECL) signal from the electrochemically oxidization of Ru(bpy)32+ was greatly enhanced by Hal.Based on this observation, CE with ECL detection is applied to the determination of Hal in human urine. The method is a highly sensitive, simple and reliable technique for determination of Hal in urine.
