The extended displacement discontinuity method(EDDM)is extended to study a planar crack of arbitrary shape in the isotropic plane in a three-dimensional transversely isotropic thermo-magneto-electro-elastic(TMEE)medium.The unit extended discontinuity fundamental solutions of the TMEE medium are derived based on the general solution by Chen et al.(Chen,W.Q.,Lee,K.Y.,Ding,H.J.,2004.General solution for transversely isotropic magneto-electro-thermo-elasticity and the potential theory method.Int.J.Eng.Sci.42,1361–1379.).The extended displacement discontinuity boundary integral equations for a planar crack of arbitrary shape in the isotropic plane of TMEE medium are established. The singularities of crack-tip fields are obtained and the extended field intensity factors are expressed in terms of the extended displacement discontinuities on crack faces.Based on the analogy between the extended displacement discontinuity boundary integral equations for thermal isotropic elastic material and TMEE,a simple solution method for crack problem of TMEE medium is proposed. As a special case, the solutions of a penny-shaped crack subject to uniform heat flux are obtained.
