Feeding pregnant cows in warm winter grasses growing in the previous growing season in winter may be an alternative to the grazing system in the semi-arid Pampa area of Argentina. 1990 ~ 1991 The winter pasture quality of four warm-season grasses: switchgrass, turkey, Tetrachne.dregei and angustifolia was compared during the last growing season. Summer grass growing from the initial frost, mowing throughout the winter 5 times, the same interval. The dry matter changes of the grass biomass were measured. The forage grass samples were divided into leaves and stems. The quality analysis included crude protein (CP), in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), rumen effective degradation rate (ED), neutral detergent fiber NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) and lignin. T.dregei forage grass-leaf ratio and quality are usually higher than the other, but the difference is not significant. Its crude protein content is significantly lower than the maintenance needs of dairy cows. T.dregei's dry matter yield was lower than Curcuma longifolia, but the difference was only significant in 1990. Although the lowest proportion of the four grasses was evaluated, their quality and dry matter yield were generally higher. The lowest yield of switchgrass, the low nutritional value of feed, is comparable to or lower than Curcuma longifolia. Although the nutritional value of leaves and stems can not be compared with the statistics, the nutritional value of leaves has a higher tendency than the stems. The best grass species identified in this study is T.dregei, which has good prospects for use and provides nutritious forage for the winter grazing system in the area.
