Onion is the most common type of vegetable in the kitchen, but the pungent smell of cutting onions often makes people cry and makes many people love and hate it. However, the above situation may soon become history. A Japanese food company announced on March 31 that the company has developed a “no tears” onion so that people will not shed tears when cutting it. Company researchers found that the smell when cutting onions contains a substance that stimulates the weeping of people. Researchers have managed to dramatically reduce such irritants with an ion, so that onion odor no longer stimulates tearing. A spokesman for the company said it has not yet been decided whether to put this “onion-free” into commercial production.
