In the 2012 Hong Kong Legislative Council election, the number of seats for direct election by system-building schools increased sharply. The number of moderate democrats dropped significantly while the number of radical democrats increased. In terms of the total number of seats, the proportions of the two camps remained unchanged. The increase in the number of directly elected seats in the establishment of the system in this election is mainly due to the influence of the strategic elements of the election. The increase in seats for the radical democrats involves changes in the objective environment. The impact of such changes on the political ecology of Hong Kong is mainly negative.
