东风4型内燃机车轴箱体内滚动轴承与轴颈的配合为φ160(D_1(~(+0.024))/g_α(~(+0.052) _(+0.025))),其过盈量仅为0.001~0.052,这对于机车轴箱的工况来说,显然是不足的。在有温升、重负荷和冲击力的作用下,很容易在配合面之间产生相对位移,所以轴套在工作时就必然会出现周向转动和轴向窜出。据统计,原配属我段的两台东风4型机车(0132、0133号现已调配给南京东机务段)在走行25万公里后,轴箱滚动轴承内套有松动现
