The mixture of pyridine 3,5-dicarboxylate and CoCl2.6H2O was reacted under hydrothermal conditions at 413K to give the title compound Co (PDC) 2H2O (PDC = pyridine 3,5-dicarboxylate). Single crystal X-ray diffraction showed that the coordination polymer belongs to the monoclinic system with a space group of C2 / c with unit parameters of a = 0.9902 (2) nm, b = 1.1981 (2) nm and c = 0.73997 (15) nm, β = 105.18 (3) °, Z = 4.
