The first generation fungicides used today kill the fungus before they enter the plant. Second-generation fungicides, currently used less often, kill the fungus after it enters the plant tissue. According to Hugh D.Sisler, a professor of plant science at the University of Maryland, USA, the United States has successfully developed the third generation fungicide. Its mode of action is to stop the fungus from causing disease-causing ability or to stimulate the plant’s ability to defend against the disease.
