本刊编委会为了听取各地物理学工作者对本刊的意见,以便据以改进工作起见,特於九月九日下午邀请出席这次扩大理事会的各地代表,举行座谈会,除部分代表因同时参加理事会,北京市代表因学校已开始上课,另有少数代表因事不克出席外,其余代表同志均惠予参加。座谈会由本刊主任编辑杨肇燫先生主持,杨先生请求大家对本刊多多批评,多多提供改进意见。(杨先生后来因必须出席理事会而退席,座谈会由副主任编辑雷树人先生继续主持进行)。各位代表在发言中除了对本刊已经取得的成绩,多所勉励外,指出了本刊还存在的缺点并提出了许多宝贵的改进意见。这些意见大致可以归纳如下:第一,通报过去在编辑上计划性不强,特别是在配合教学进度来发表文章上作得不够;第二、各地中学物理教师有许多过去没有专门学过物理,有不少是由小学教师提升的,他们有许多物理问题搞不懂,但通报在帮助他们解决困难、提高物理知识上作得不够;第三、各地在物理教学改革上都多多少少在这方面或那方面有一些好的经验,但通报在交流各地经验上作得不够;第四、大学普通物理的教学,存在问题不少,改进中所得的好的经验也不少,
