为适应我市扩大对外交流和申办奥运的需要,按市政府的要求,市高等教育自学考试委员会办公室去年12月组织了首次英语中级水平考试,有13000多名考生应试,5295人取得了合格证书。3月1日下午,市政府在国际会议中心举行了总结大会,中国奥申委副主席、奥中委执委都浩然、原北京市副市长、自考办主任白介夫,北京市副市长胡昭广、北京外国语学院教授许国璋等应邀出席。他们对考生取得的优异成绩表示祝贺,并重申了在广大职工(市民)中开展广泛学习外语活动的重要意义。为此,我们编发了北京市副市长胡昭广、北京市成教局局长尤文同志的讲话供同志们学习,并一同刊发在这次大会上宣读的《北京市成人教育系统暨北京市职工自学外语总结大会致北京2000年奥中委的声援信》,表达我们预祝奥运申办成功、国家更加繁荣富强的愿望。
