《东西洋考每月统记传》(Eastern Western Monthly Magazine)(以下简称《东西洋考》)是由德国籍传教士郭实腊(Charles Gutzlaff,1803—1851)主编的中国境内最早用中文出版的近代期刊。该刊辟专栏介绍了西方的一些科技知识,这些科技知识旨在使中国人获知西方的“技艺、科学与准则”~([1](P12)),“用展示事实的手法,使中国人相信,他们仍有许多东西要学”~([1](P12)),,但也不失为一种‘科技传教“策略。目前学界专门探讨《东西洋考》中科技知识的文章尚不多见,本文拟对这一问题进行探讨,以就教于专家、学者。
Eastern Western Monthly Magazine (hereinafter referred to as ”Eastern Western Monthly“) was first published in Chinese by the German missionary Charles Gutzlaff (1803-1851) in China Modern periodicals.
