传统看法以为,辽太宗援立石敬塘及南下灭晋,都是被动作出的反应,第一次源于石敬瑭求援,第二次则是石重贵挑衅。本文指出,入主中原一直都是太宗的目标。后唐君臣内讧,意外地解决了一直困扰太宗的如何突破后唐防线的难题。援立石晋只是权宜之计,早在石重贵继位前,辽太宗就已经在策划再度南下。晋出帝的鲁莽只是提前引爆了潜在的辽晋冲突,太宗的真正意图是据有中原,而非惩戒石重贵。
According to the traditional view, Taizong’s aid to Shi Jingtang and the south to kill Jin were all reactionary actions.
