解放前,旧中国可以说是没有什么学校卫生的,广大学生健康状况无人过问。不少青少年与成人一样,患有肺结核等各种疾病。国外称我们为“东亚病夫”。解放以后,党和国家一贯重视儿童青少年健康。毛主席、周总理都有重要指示。毛主席提出:“健康第一”,周总理强调“卫生要从小讲起”。中央有关各部颁布有关学校卫生全国性的文件就有20余件。正是在党和国家的关怀下,在“予防为主”的方针指引下,学校卫生事业有了很大发展。首先,许多医学院校成立了卫生系,系内设学校卫生(1960年后改为儿童少年卫生)教
