Fire is a common natural phenomenon in forest ecosystem closely related to forest hydrology. The effects of fire on water are indirectly reflected by changes in post-fire vegetation, coverings, soils and the environment that affect the water cycle, water quality and aquatic life. The extent of this effect depends on the severity of the fire and the frequency of the fire. Low-intensity wildfires have no significant effect on forest hydrology, but frequent fires or high-intensity fires can cause hydrological changes similar to clear-cut. This paper reviews the effects of fire disturbance on the moisture cycle, fluids and sediments, downstream water quality and aquatic life. Reference 37.
