郑州至武昌区段采用了四显示自动闭塞系统后，暴露出一些问题。首先是通过能力没有明显增长。其主要原因是：车站设置太密，使区间四显示序列无法展开；列车在区间和车站运行时间不均衡，使列车不能匀速追踪；同方向发车间隔时间加大对能力有所影响；机车信号设备问题影响了效率和安全；设备被盗被损及自然灾害对行车干扰较大；设计施工不完善。其次，四显示系统在引进、运用、维修中也存在一些问题。针对上述问题，提出了解决方法与建议。
