当代中国画教学,始于1949年新中国的建立。当代中国画教学思想,启蒙于20世纪初新文化运动中美术革命的思想。康有为《万木草堂藏画目·序》云:“中国近世之画衰败极矣,盖由画论之谬也。……国人岂无英绝之士应运而兴,合中西而为画学新纪元者,其在今乎?”①(1917年) 陈独秀《美术革命》云:“要改良中国画,断不能采用洋画的写实精神。……画家也必须用写实主义,才能发挥自己的天才,画自己的画,不落古人的窠臼。”②(1918年)
