作为产品设计过程中重要的表现方式之一的《产品模型制作》,是通过最接近真实水平的3D立体造型技术来检验平面设计上可行性的设计方案,帮助设计师更进一步完善自己的设计思路,同样也是测验设计师是否合格的重要标准之一。因此,在整个产品模型设计实践课程中,《产品模型制作》是作为一项基础性课程而重点推进的,在设计师教学环节里占据至高的重要地位,同样也是提高学生实践能力、创新思维水平的重要手段之一,在整个模型制作的教学课程体系中扮演着承上启下的重要角色。然而,由于教学条件、教学时长限制以及产品制作工艺的不断发展,对产品的功能、结构、生产工艺等对产品设计起到决定性作用的要素的了解与掌握不够,更多集中在外观等方面的模型表现。产品模型制作课程与核心产品设计课程之间不仅未能达到更好的衔接,为了让课程在课程体系中未能发挥出应有的作用,提高学生对于模型制作知识的实际应用能力,满足专业发展及社会的需求。《产品模型制作》课程改革变得尤为重要。
