In his Aesthetics, Hegel divides art into three types: the symbolic art, the classical art, and the romantic art from the perspective of organic unity between the spiritual connotation of the work and the perceptual life style. Symbolic art refers to the spiritual implication of works, yet it can not find a sensual image suitable for expressing oneself, imposing the spiritual connotation to be expressed on a certain kind of living object while at the same time reluctantly expresses this spiritual connotation.
