Anyone who knows a bit about the technical details of hydraulic fracturing can be freed from the doubts of water pollution. The technology itself is safe and the crux of the matter lies in how the government regulates it. According to ARI’s estimates, China’s recoverable unconventional natural gas reserves amount to 50 trillion cubic meters, of which 36 trillion cubic meters of shale gas, 9 trillion cubic meters of coalbed methane and 300 million cubic meters of dense gas. This figure is more than ten times the amount of conventional natural gas that China can mine.
