六盘山麓是小麦条锈孢病子越夏地区,种植抗条锈小麦品种,不仅对本地小麦增产有巨大意义,而且可减少夏孢子越夏菌源,对陕、甘、青等邻近省区控制条锈发生也有重要意义。固原地区的隆、泾、彭、固、西、海六县,仅八十年代以来已三次流行,84、85两年严重流行,造成小麦不同程度减产。根据84.85两年春小麦区域试验及生产中检查以及陕西、甘肃植保所专家考察结果,严重发病品种发病率达100％,严重率86～100％,中度发病品种发病率100％,严重率40～60％,感染较轻品种发病率也在20％左右,估计损失达10～40％。
