(一)困境与选择当代大学教育面临矛盾与困境是:一方面,在教育理念上,通识教育的重要性被不断地肯定,而另一方面,在实行中,通识教育的重要性又不断地被淡化,甚至忽视。然而,对于任何文明来说,人文精神才是它的内在的灵魂,科学技术只是实现人的目的的外在手段,科技发展的动力也来自人文精神。正因如此,人文与科技的二元对立引起社会各届有识之士深深的忧虑,可以说“人文教育与科学教育的融合”早已成为各国高等教育界和社会广泛关注和急待解决的重大课题,当然也成为世界高
