Objective: To investigate the expression of serum BED zinc finger protein 3 (ZBED3) and its relationship with metabolic parameters in different glucose tolerance population. Methods: A total of 115 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) admitted to our hospital from January 2012 to March 2014 were enrolled. 97 IGT patients and normal glucose tolerance (109 healthy volunteers or volunteers , The level of ZBED3 in serum was determined and the relationship with ZBED3 was analyzed. Results: The level of ZBED3 in female group was significantly higher than that in male population (121.3 ± 33.5 pg / m Lvs 113.9 ± 32.9 pg / m L, P = 0.02). Serum levels of ZBED3 in overweight group were significantly higher than those in non-overweight group (132.5 ± 31.4 pg / m L vs 111.4 ± 30.2 pg / m L, P = 0.00). Serum levels of ZBED3 in T2DM group were significantly higher than those in IGT group and NGT group 143.5 ± 31.2 pg / m L vs 123.7 ± 26.4 pg / m L, 97.1 ± 20.3 pg / m L, P = 0.00) .Serum ZBED3 levels correlated with body mass index, waist / hip ratio, body fat percent, diastolic blood pressure, , Triglyceride, fasting insulin, fasting plasma glucose and Homa-Insulin resistance index (P <0.01), and negatively correlated with high density lipoprotein cholesterol (P <0.01); and waist / hip ratio, body fat Percentages, diastolic blood pressure, triglycerides, glycosylated hemoglobin, and Homa-Insulin resistance index were independent predictors of serum ZBED3 levels Conclusion: T2DM, IGT patients and overweight population ZBED3 serum levels were significantly increased, and closely related to the development of obesity and T2DM.
