疏水高岭土颜料很难在水中分散,因此无法广泛用于箱纸板的分散涂料中。实验确定了疏水高岭土可用作防护分散涂料的颜料,并就涂料的固结性、结构、润湿和防渗性能,将疏水高岭土(HC)与常规高岭土(CC)进行了对比。用实验室动态成形器将所有涂料涂于箱纸板上,用扫描电子显微镜和拉曼光谱仪对涂布箱纸板进行了分析,同时还分析了纸板的吸水性、蒸汽传递率和接触角。结果表明,含疏水高岭土的涂料赋予了纸板的超疏水特性,即高接触角(150°)和相对较低的吸水性。横切面的拉曼谱图显示,在常规高岭土或疏水高岭土存在下,胶乳分布都很均匀,而且疏水高岭土比常规高岭土的分布更均匀,这反映出疏水高岭土具有好的混合和固结性。
Hydrophobic kaolin pigments are difficult to disperse in water and therefore can not be widely used in the dispersion of carton board coatings. Hydrophobic kaolin was experimentally determined to be useful as a pigment in protective dispersion coatings and hydrophobic HC and conventional kaolin CCs were compared for coating consistency, texture, wetting and barrier properties. All the coatings were coated on the box board with a laboratory dynamic shaper. The coated board was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The water absorption, the transmissivity and the contact angles of the board were also analyzed. The results show that hydrophobic kaolin-containing coatings impart superhydrophobic properties to the board, namely high contact angle (150 °) and relatively low water absorption. The Raman spectra of the cross-sections show that the latex is uniformly distributed in the presence of conventional kaolin or hydrophobic kaolin, and the hydrophobic kaolin is more evenly distributed than the conventional kaolin, reflecting the good mixing and consolidation of the hydrophobic kaolin.
