整体采煤法主要是为改变我国乡镇煤矿现行的落后采煤方法而研究成功的一种新颖而又先进的采煤方法,但也适用于因地质构造复杂等因素而无法进行长壁式回采的国有煤矿。它不受煤层倾角、硬度、厚度以及煤层顶板条件的限制。其技术特点是可以实现“三无”采煤的目的(即工作面内无人、无支护、无运转设备)。与乡镇煤矿现行的开采方法相比,具有“三高”“两低”安全可靠的显著优点(三高:产量高、效率高、回采率高,两低:成本低、劳动强度低)。每吨煤成本可降低18元,堵绝了工作面内伤亡事故的发生,是改变我国乡镇煤矿安全形势严峻、资源浪费极其严重的被动局面的一种理想的采煤方法。
