Objective: To investigate the changes and significance of trace elements in blood when infants rotavirus infection. Methods: The levels of zinc, copper, iron, calcium, magnesium and lead in serum of 80 infants younger than 2 years old and infants with normal controls were measured by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AE). Results: The serum levels of zinc, copper, iron, calcium and magnesium in 80 infants infected with rotavirus were lower than those in normal controls, especially in zinc and iron. Conclusion: There is a certain imbalance of serum trace elements in infants and young children due to rotavirus infection. It is one of the predisposing factors that cause the systemic spread of RV infection. Therefore, it is necessary to replenish and regulate trace elements in time. It is of great significance for the treatment and recovery of diseases.
