In 2015, a report released by WWF showed that from 1970 to 2010, the number of marine species in the world had nearly halved and that of fish such as tuna and mackerel decreased by as much as 74%. The Galapagos Islands and the Red Sea Of sea cucumbers reduced by 98%, many areas of sharks on the brink of extinction. The Christopher Golden team at Harvard University in the United States speculated by computer modeling that a drop in fish catches meant that as many as 10% of the world’s population is at risk of nutritional deficiencies, a problem that lies between low-income coastal communities and the equator Of developing countries will be particularly serious.
