民国六、七年间,有一个叫井勿幕的,曾任陕西关中道尹。此人并无重大史迹,只是他的姓名奇特,偶经寓目,便不易忘。这个名字的出处在《周易》,见于卦四十八《井·上六》的爻辞;“井收勿幕。有孚。大吉。”见识一番经典,无意间找到很多习见语的“娘家”,也是读书一乐。不速之客,密云不雨,谦谦君子,无妄之灾,虎视眈眈,突如其来,匪夷所思,这些话原来都出在《周易》上。上引爻辞中共八个字,没有一个难字,但含意却颇不易理会。李镜池先生的《周易通义》对此作注解云:
