Objective To understand the level, constitution and prevalence of notifiable infectious diseases in Wen County from 2005 to 2009. Methods Statistical analysis was conducted on the incidence and death of notifiable infectious diseases in Wen County from 2005 to 2009 by the China Disease Prevention and Control Center for Disease Surveillance Information Reporting Management System. Results A total of 20 reported cases of legal infectious diseases were reported in Wen County from 2005 to 2009, of which 2 were not reported as Category A infectious diseases, 13 were reported as category 26 B infectious diseases and 7 were reported as 11 kinds of Category C infectious diseases. The cumulative number of reported infectious diseases was 10017 cases, with a 5-year average incidence of 483.02 / 100 000; 29 cases were reported dead with an average mortality of 1.40 / 100 000. The case fatality rate was 0.29%. There were 6 498 cases of Category B infectious diseases reported, with an average incidence rate of 313.33 / 100,000 and 3 519 cases of Type C infectious diseases with an average incidence rate of 169.69 / 100,000. The top three diseases of type B infectious diseases were hepatitis B, tuberculosis and dysentery in turn. Among the top three diseases, AIDS, tuberculosis and hepatitis B were the leading causes of death. The top 3 diseases with the highest prevalence of Category C infectious diseases were followed by other infectious diarrhea, mumps and hand-foot-mouth disease. Conclusion Hepatitis B, tuberculosis, AIDS, other infectious diarrhea and hand-foot-mouth disease are still the major diseases that seriously endanger the health of residents in Wen County.
