起伏抗敌路明万历四十五年(1617年),后金首领努尔哈赤起兵攻明,逼近山海关。天启二年(1622年),明军广宁大败,13万大军全军覆没,40多座城池失守,明朝边关岌岌可危。在国家危难之时,袁崇焕挺身而出,镇守辽东。天启六年(1626年)正月,努尔哈赤率兵13万,攻打孤立无援的宁远,却被袁崇焕的1万守军打得大败而归。努尔哈赤在战斗中被打伤,不久郁郁而死。
