秋水仙(Colchicum autumnale L.)是单子叶百合科植物。多年生草本,长着直径3～4厘米粗的肉质地下鳞茎,茎很短,大都埋藏地下,鳞茎外包裹褐色膜片;叶抽出时,花未长出,开花时,叶片枯萎。在春风吹拂下,鳞茎上长出5～6片像水仙似的狭长、披针形叶片,长约30厘米。夏日来临,新的鳞茎形成了,老鳞茎上的叶片枯萎了,但新的鳞茎很快进入休眠状态。到9～10月间,地下鳞茎上的花芽破土而出,一簇簇1～4朵鲜艳的秋水仙花朵开放出来,颇为美丽。花朵的大小、颜色因品种而异,一般花径为5～10厘米,有淡紫、堇红、玫瑰红、白及其它颜色,花梗极短,近无,花丝贴生于花冠筒壁上。
Colchicum autumnale L. is a monocotyledonous plant.
