2003年元月7日,公刘先生辞世而去。没有讣告,没有追悼会,他悄悄离开了诗歌,离开了千千万万热爱着他、关心着他的人们,离开了他始终眷顾着的苍生。那几天,全国各地天天有电话,向我询问公刘去世的消息,足见先生在全国诗友心目中的位置。先生姓刘,名耿直,江西南昌人,终年76岁。他坎坷曲折的一生,既令人心酸,又令人景仰。他去世后,遵照他的遗嘱,未开追悼会,所以省文联有不少同志不知道消息;知道后都沉默良久,寄予无限哀思。先生是位真正的诗人,不随波逐流,永怀一颗赤子之心,称得上是诗歌的良心,是人民忠诚的儿子。我最不能忘怀的,是先生真诚的微笑和睿智的目光。
