In the period of differentiated cardiomyocyte growth, changing the nutritional status of neonatal rats during lactation will have a temporary effect and a permanent effect on the interspaced cardiomyocytes of these rats. The temporary role of high nutrition during lactation is to increase the size and number of spatial myocardial cells; and the temporary role of low nutrition is to slow the growth of ventricular septal cardiomyocytes. The long-term effect of lactational high nutrition is to limit excessive hypertrophy of ventricular septal cardiomyocytes; whereas low nutrition promotes hypertrophy of ventricular septal cardiomyocytes in mature mice.
