The wide-angle (WAXD) and small-angle scattering (SAXS) methods were used to study the fiber crystallites and micropores in different stages of PAN-based carbon fiber preparation. WAXD results show that in the carbonization process, the crystallite size becomes larger and is oriented along the fiber axis. SAXS results show that the preparation process, the new micropores further formed, micropores gradually arranged along the fiber axis, the average length of micropores increased. Based on the traditional analysis method, the micropore is established as a cylinder with preferred orientation, and its size is set as a logistic normal distribution scattering model. The full-spectrum fitting analysis of the two-dimensional scattergram is performed. Applying this method to carbon fiber, it is concluded that the model can accurately describe the relevant characteristics of micropores.
