In vitro studies have shown that human vaginal mucosa has the same ability to penetrate water and 17b-estradiol as the buccal mucosa, but both have smaller molecular weights of 18D and 272D, respectively. To further confirm the similarities of their penetrating ability, the author carried out the relevant research. Materials used in the in vitro experiment were fresh healthy vaginal mucosa from 12 patients after vaginal hysterectomy and 12 healthy and fresh buccal mucosa after oral surgery.
