科学飞速发展的今天,获取新的知识和信息的渠道自然离不开书籍。其中包括电子图书、现代装帧的图书资料、古籍图书等等。古籍图书更是我们今天的人们去研究历史发掘历史的重要途径。而古籍版本的书籍在我们今天的大型图书馆、小型资料室或收藏界已是非常稀少,异常珍贵。它已不是简单的知识、文字载体,它本身的装帧形式已具备“文物”的性质。它可以鉴古证今,从中可以查知当时统治者的文化政策、经济兴衰,了解历史的真实面目,甚至版本的不同、内容的差异直接影响到历史的真面目。可见,研究一些版本学、知道了解一些古籍版本的常识是我们今人应具备的,更特别是史学工作者的基本功之一。
